Yesterday I had class just like I do every Thursday. When I got to the church (remember that for later...I was at a church) where my class is held I went to sit outside for a bit, because I was there early and I still had a headache and wanted some fresh air before class.
While I was sitting outside, one of the ladies from my class said she wanted to talk to me for a minute. She had heard from someone else in the class that I was allegedly talking shit about her. Not true, but hey that's what she was told, so it must be true. Apparently the Facebook status in which I stated I was not surprised by the number of people absent from the class that day. Never named names, didn't call anyone directly, nothing. Just simply stated my opinion. Well that status update received some questions about the number of absent people and some comments about how I should take a day off in order to help other people in the class look better (cus you know, it's totally my responsibility to make other people look good...yeah right)...whether or not this person was joking or serious I don't know. In any case I stopped replying, because it was days ago and I had moved on. A friend from class (referred to as A) had proceeded to comment in response to the take a day off comment and basically said that "yeah she should really change to make other people look better" and then followed up with "no she wasn't joking".
Cut to well over a week later when I'm sitting outside killing time before class starts. The lady from my class asks me about what shit I was saying about her and whether or not I had a problem with her and whatever. I told her flat out, that no I was not talking shit about her at anytime, that I never said anything about her and that I had no problem with her. I also told her that basically I couldn't care less about what she or other people in the class were doing. I was focused on my work and my business and that's it. It their decisions to come to class or not and that I didn't care what their decisions were in regards to class, because we are all adults and it really wasn't my problem. That was that and she went inside and I stayed outside for a bit longer.
Lunchtime rolled around and three of us went out to grab pitas for lunch and when we got back I logged onto my computer to play around on Facebook and Twitter during lunch. I logged onto Facebook and immediately saw that someone (not naming names) had found my blog and posted a link to the post from November 22. This is the same person that I referenced in that post for the cyber bullying jokes and Photoshop stuff. Immediately after seeing this I logged into Blogger and switched my blog to invite only, I protected my Twitter and went outside because I was upset. He was basically doing exactly what he was accusing A and I of doing almost two weeks ago: Cyber Bullying.
I probably shouldn't have gotten as upset as I did, but I was overtired, overstressed, on my third day of a headache and honestly, not expecting this shit to go down. A came out to see if I was ok and eventually one of the teachers came out as well. We were talking about the whole thing and I was calmed down enough to go back in when the lady from that morning and two more girls from the class came out and ambushed me with a verbal attack about the whole thing.
Remember, we were at a church and they come storming out the main doors and just start yelling and swearing at me over the blog post and accusing me of breaking confidentiality and starting shit and whatever. We basically spent a good 15 minutes yelling back and forth about it all. Eventually they went inside and I stayed outside crying. The teacher wanted to still talk about it, so we did for a bit then one of the ones who had come outside to yell at me came back out and wanted to talk.
I obviously was not in the mood to talk to her again so I told her flat out " I do not want to talk to you, go away"...she kept pushing and the teacher was trying to get me to talk to her, but I just kept telling her the same thing; that I didn't want to talk to her and to go away. Eventually I said "if and when I decide I want to talk to you again, I will, but until then GO AWAY". I know, so mature, but honestly, after being verbally attacked for 15-20 minutes, I just couldn't care less. She then turned to the teacher and said she was offended by something she had said while we were all outside and I was getting a break from them ganging up on me. I don't know what was said but the teacher said that "sure they could talk about it" and they went into the lobby of the church to talk. About 15-20 minutes later, I noticed that the teacher, and some of my classmates were all in the lobby talking. Eventually one of the other girls in my class came out to talk to me and make sure I was okay. The teacher came back out and the three of us talked some more and then eventually, we went back into the class.
The teachers then spoke to the class about the whole thing, not going into too many details, but just that it had all started as a joke and whatever and had escalated and that as of now, the whole thing was done. If and when the situation will be discussed again, it is to be done 1-on-1.
When I went back into class, I ended up going back on Facebook and deleting about 5 people from my friends list who were all part of the whole cyber bullying/verbal attack thing and I changed my privacy settings to "Friends Only", and my Twitter is still protected and the blog is "Invite Only" (unless of course I have posted this to that blog, in which case obviously it's not).

The Before
**Originally posted elsewhere on November 22**
It is not my responsibility
Being called a cyber bully is really just awesome. Really it was a blast. Especially since it went on all damned afternoon.
As I have blogged about in the past (here, here, here, and probably a few more times if you really care, I have been going to a business class that is helping me start my own business. Anyway, this class has been frustrating to say the least. While some people seem to care about actually completing the program and getting their work done on time and properly, there are a few that honestly do not seem to care in the slightest. That's fine...it's their call, however for those of us who actually care, it makes it harder to keep finding the motivation and energy to keep going to class (some of us have perfect attendance to keep up...okay it's just me and one other person, but between you and me, the only reason he has perfect attendance despite actually missing two classes is because he discussed it with the teachers or whatever about how they were business related).
I have actually told both teachers that I find it really hard to keep wanting to go to class when some people continuously show up late, they talk AND listen to music in class and when we have in class work to do they distract everyone else. So many times I have pulled my noise reducing headphones and ipod out just to block out the obnoxiousness so I can get my work done. It takes a lot of time to overachieve ya know!
Anyway, now we are at the point in the program where business plans SHOULD be finished(and I say should because there are at least three people I know of who do not have theirs done and are still a long way from being finished). We are now down to one day a week (normally Thursdays) so last Thursday when my friend (hereby referred to as A)and I got to class there were only a few people there. When class started (LATE AGAIN) neither of us were in the least bit surprised because people are always coming in late). I updated my Facebook status (yes in the middle of class, sue me). I stated in my status that I was not in the least bit surprised at how many people were absent from class.
**I have removed the screen cap**
Basically someone who shall remain nameless thinks I need to miss a class and stop making everyone look bad by not having perfect attendance and by not I guess you could call it overachieving on my homework. I tend to go overboard on completing my assignments and people in the class know it. However, I honestly do not see why I should have to be responsible for making other people in the class look better. They know when we have class and they know when class starts, so they should (as adults) be able to understand the fairly simple concept of scheduling their business activities around class time. Plus, that comment about how "some people were working" is just obnoxious. Ya apparently her business is up and running. Mine is not at this moment, but I work my fucking ass off and other people in the class have operational businesses YET they manage to be in pretty much every class. Some do not, but they fall into the same category of continuously coming late to class, talking in class, and generally being a pain in the ass, so they officially do not count.
Just because my business is not yet up and running, does not mean that I sit around playing video games or watching tv all day. I'm doing work towards getting my business operational and I do my homework.
Some people honestly should not even be in the class anymore, but since I have no control over that, I guess I'll just have to continue having perfect attendance and as people have pointed out "brown nosing"..lol...
Anyway to get to the whole cyber bullying thing, today we had class instead of Thursday. No real reason given, but whatever, I don't care. A and I were sitting in at our table waiting for class to start, which it did at about 10:10 (only 10 minutes late today) with a total of SIX students out of about 17. Yeah not good. About 10:30 a few people started coming in late, one of which came in loudly wearing heels and proceeded to disturb everyone who was trying to listen to the lecture about payroll. Just before 11, she got up and left. She was there for about 30 minutes give or take. We're scheduled to go until at least 2:00. As she was getting up and packing her shit up A leaned over a bit to face her and whispered something about being unprofessional.I missed that completed but she told me about it and updated her FB status to read something along the lines of people in the class being unprofessional. Keep in mind that no names were directly mentioned in hers and you can see above that no names were mentioned directly in mine.
Well our break time rolled around and A and I were talking about the whole thing and people overheard a bit. We were mostly talking about it and how these were OUR opinions and were not directed to any one person in particular, but they were obviously about the class. As far as I'm concerned, people are entitled to their opinions and they can say them, put them in their FB status, Tweet them, or fucking tattoo them on themselves. I don't care. The one teacher who was there in the morning overheard parts of the conversation and decided to essentially lecture the class (but it was more directed to A and I since we were the ones with the mean messages on our FBs)...neither of us took to that very well and we both said that they were on our personal Facebook accounts, not business ones and that no one was mentioned by name and that they were our own opinions. Then, we were both accused of cyber bullying and repeatedly called out for it. Again, neither of us took to that too well. Then one of the guys decided he was going to turn around and cyber bully us. Proceeded to "borrow" our faces from pictures on Facebook and photoshop them. The resulting photos are a little funny however they are rather hypocritical. But whatever.
Thank jebus, we don't have class again until December 2, because honestly I need the break from the class. Although, as much as I need the break, I am not above making my FB status to be rather vindictive and bitchy. What's really funny, is that the girl who originally commented on my FB status about working, messaged me earlier this evening to find out what she missed in class and what the homework was. I of course have not responded to her message. I was going too, but then I decided to wait. Fuck her, because honestly, it's not my responsibility to make sure she gets her work that she's missed and it most definitely is not my responsibility to make her look good.
So what do you think? Were A and I being cyber bullies? Keep in mind that neither of us sought out specific people or their Facebooks to call them out on shit, call them names, be rude etc and neither of us mentioned names directly on our Facebooks.
